Welcome to the Los Alamitos High School Vocal Music program and the Note-ables Booster Club. You and your student are in for an exciting year! This program is such an enriching experience and I’m glad your student has decided to be part of it.

Many scientific studies have shown that music makes an incredible, positive difference throughout a person’s life and the Note-ables Booster Club is helping to make that difference. The Note-ables Booster Club was formed to support our vocal music program with hands-on service and financial assistance. Thanks to our foundation and to a talented and dedicated choir director, we now have more than 200 students in 6 very active and successful choirs and an operating budget of over $100,000 per year (only a fraction of which is covered by the district).

For new parents/students we are having a Vocal Music Back To School Night, Wednesday, September TBD in the choir room. This early gathering will allow new choir families to meet other parents and have all their questions answered about concerts, tickets, boosters, traveling, time commitment, requirements and expectations, and finances. Light refreshments will be served. I recommend all new parents attend and look forward to meeting you then.

This meeting will be followed by our first general booster meeting of the year. I hope you will stay and join us. This is a great group of parents who will make a positive difference in your child’s life.

The Fall Membership Drive is one of our biggest fundraisers. As a member of the Note-ables Booster Club, you will be helping to provide choreographers, year-end awards for outstanding students and graduating seniors, financial aid to help with choir expenses for families in need, sheet music, musicians, festival fees for our competition season, improvements for our choir room, sound equipment, and much, much more.

Only Note-ables Booster Club members may purchase Season Tickets to our four concerts. These tickets will not only save money on admission prices, but will guarantee the bearer a reserved seat for every concert. Season Tickets also count as part of the minimum number of tickets that all students are required to sell!

Our General Booster Club Meetings are scheduled every other month on the 2nd Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the choir room. The next general meeting will be November 11th. All are welcome (members and non-members alike) and we look forward to working together for a successful and fulfilling year.

I also hope you will join us for our annual Parent Mixer dinner party on Saturday, TBD. This is a fun evening when you’ll have a chance to meet the parents of the other students in the program and find out what a great group you and your student have become a part of. We’ll be sending out more details soon.
